India Alive

Filed under: Art & Design — Hitesh Mehta @ 11:18 am

Visage Images in India who represents GettyImages had thrown a contest for graphic designers, art directors, visualisers last month to participate by designing a poster titled India Alive and the idea was to visualise an image of India.The entries will be judged by a panel drawn from varied creative fields, including photography (Ashok Salian), film (Pankuj Parasher) and few from sculpture and theatre.The results are yet to be announced.. and best 3 poster entries from the region will win the Visage of India Award. While all winners from the west will be announced at Mumbai, those from the northern region will be awarded at Delhi. The east and south regions have been clubbed, and three winners from the two regions combined will be announced at the Bangalore awards ceremony.

Though this is a very tough competition… i really enjoyed designing something for the very first time on such an interesting subject… I have used 42 images from visage collection in this poster collage. Here is my submission.. wish me luck.

  2. Hitesh, The way you have used variations of orange, brown, light blue and green in layers;
    it looks really nice. All distinct yet so close to each other.

    Good work and GOOD LUCK !

    I would love if at some point you can share what went in your mind as you created it.

  9. thanks so much Vijay, Mahendran, Mukund, Samuel, Amit, Abhijit, mukesh (rdgujarati) and ofcoz Mohit for liking this poster..

    No amit thr is no public voting for this.. it will be purely on the best piece of work. I was attending Chennai Ad Club award everning and i found Visage stall with promoting this contest. Thr are top ad agencies, design houses, art studios from every corner who wil be participating for this contest wer thr are bunch of people clubbed with various thoughts to create something wonderful.. and for me its jus a serious thought as an individual about how do i go ahead to create a poster with such theme. It will not be a fair part from my end also, if i go forward asking few people for ideas… am jus excited to see the winning entries and how are they different with all other entries… does they truely speak about “india alive”? lets see..

    Mohit.. thanks again for calling me from mumbai and sharing the good words šŸ™‚

  14. Hi,

    Good to know abt. your blog…. keep it up.

    Abt. your design, did like it. It does provide a rich indian culture. But somehow, the very first thought came to mind seeing the poster is that you concentrated only on the ancient/rural India aspects. This poster MAY leave an impression on people’s mind that India is still an ancient / backward country. I suggest you could have used a couple of modern India images (don’t know if this was allowed)

    Anyway, congrats on a good design….and you do stand a good chance.
